bitching post

So like I’m freaking sleepy and can barely think right now. I’m wonderfully behind in my readings cos I haven’t been concentrating much for the past few days. On the other hand, 99.9% of all my readings have been gotten and accounted for. Which reminds me. Cos I’ve been spending so much time in the photocopy room in the library the past few weeks, I’ve noticed these notices they have posted to the wall about copyright laws and whatnot. Well, I think that’s kinda ironic and in this case it should be shown to the lecturers. For eg, they say we are only allowed to copy a certain percentage of the book or the equivalent of one chapter. However, in the past few weeks, I have photocopied almost $30 worth of readings. Blame the lecturers. It’s not our fault that we get assigned readings that take up so much of the book. A chapter here, a chapter there, in the end, the entire book. And that book is not sold in the bookshop. Even if it is, do you think students can afford to buy a book that is only going to be useful for 3 months of their life? Anyway, I shall stop bitching about that now.

Went all the way to school bright and early for the 10am psycholinguistics and guess what! Class got cancelled! *rolls eyes* So there the three of us were, conned into coming to school so early. Ok, so the lecturer tried to email us the about the cancellation. Btw, an emails at 12.08AM and 8.32AM generally go unseen. By then the poor student (ie Me) is either asleep or already on the way to school. Not everybody is online 24/7. So yeah. I was kinda pissed. Especially since I was half zonked out this morning. So did not want to wake up. Fell asleep in the bus and didn’t even wake up when the sun began shining in my face cos I sat on the wrong side of the bus. So there was me hanging round sch with Su and Sab for second breakfast/lunch. Then hung around and finished ONE reading for Grammaticalization. Not an achievement. It was a backlog. Sigh. Don’t know how I’m gonna handle honors.

Anyway, JS tutorial today was alright. Wish I’d gotten Hislop as tutor though. But I suppose he probably does the sucky time slot classes. After years and years of education in here, I kind of have an aversion to local tutors. Anyway, at least this class isn’t like HY in which I was the only one not in year1. This class’s got a healthy mix of people from all over. Probably cos it’s the second sem. I don’t think there was any that actually majored in JS in this class. Hmm…can’t remember.

Choir’s getting tight too. Ad blew his top the other day when we had practice at BTC (omg! BTC is beautiful! I’d like to transfer to law just so that I can study in that beautiful campus). Yeah anyway, him blowing his top is not an unusual event so not much to say about it. Did choreo for Luk Luk. That was fun, even though the room was hot like a sauna and we were all swimming in sweat by the time practice was halfway through. Monday’s practice was alright. Much better. The CFA toilet was out of order. Hint to CFA: build another toilet!!!! Yeah. Me and Dharini had to go all the way to YIH to use the toilet there. It was actually quite funny, a big bunch of us were queueing in the CFA toilet (before it broke) and hanging around there acting nonsense. Lol!!

Yeah anyway, I’m sick and tired of school and I don’t know how I’m gonna survive another semester. It’s not yet too late to revert back to BA and graduate this sem. (I’m a chicken. I can’t stand studying anymore). Yeah, so I don’t know if the working world is gonna be any worse than this. At least I’ll get paid and regular hours and no work during weekends. Sigh. Don’t know what I’m doing in uni in the first place. Just a waste of money.

Oh yeah, Cliff didn’t turn up on sunday so guess who had to play the organ. Freak. DON’T DO THAT TO ME AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, so played the old school Mass of St David and screwed up Christ Has Died. I like Bread From The Earth and Lord is My Shepherd though. :D

Oh and today I saw this article about the Black Plague. So this is the part I found so funny:

While many perfectly healthy people certainly were cut down, those already in poor health prior to the arrival of the plague were more likely to have perished, they found.

“The Black Death was highly virulent and undoubtedly killed many otherwise healthy people who would have been unlikely to die under normal-mortality conditions,” they wrote. But people already in poor health were more likely to die, they wrote.

So like, is there anything earth shatteringly new in that? Isn’t that what happens everytime someone gets a disease??! If you’re already sick, the chances of you getting sicker (to the point of death) is higher isn’t it??! So when the plague came round, the same rule held. Omg! Scientists say the most *duh* things sometimes.

Oh yeah. Wishlist. I wish for a new laptop. Something is obviously wrong with this one. Like under the wireless radio screen, the internet wireless is not listed. And while the bluetooth is listed and turned on, My Bluetooth Places tells me that no local bluetooth device is found. Despite all other sources (hardware checks etc) that tell me nothing’s wrong with the bluetooth. In short, today I’m pissed with my bluetooth connection. I wanted to transfer stuff into my phone but I can’t because the connection somehow doesn’t work. Which doesn’t make sense cos it worked a few days ago. Anyway, point is, this laptop is pissing me off just one time too many these days. Time to start saving up. I might consider a Mac this time. Being the superficial bitch I am, I’m falling for the Mac’s pretty looks. AND!!! No viruses. I don’t know the difference between Macbook and Macbook Pro but the former looks prettier. Oh but, I’m slightly irritated with iTunes these days too. No I don’t want the Macbook Air cos that one doesn’t have a huge bunch of drives that I find essential. Anyway, that’s a few thousand dollars away. We’ll talk again once I’ve managed to save $3000 (not that the mac costs 3000, I just like to have extra).

Oh. And I’d like an iPhone. Not the hacked one. A real one. No reason. Just cos it looks nice and all that jazz.

ETA: I’d like a new electric piano too. ;)

Alrighty. Back to trying (and probably failing) to read my readings.
