la risonanza 4

today was the concert. was a blast despite all the hanging around and waitings. mj had quite a few guest choirs, not just us (the alumni) but also TK and AHS choirs. saw terrance. haha!

anyway, like i said, it was a blast. started off a bit bad when we were trying to warm up them mr yong suddenly came running to tell us that it's our turn to use the stage. omg! that first try on stage sucked big. we were off key from the get go. major panic attacks going round. then, we went outside and made ourselves get the act together. then went back to the hall and waited and waited and waited, getting more and more panicky when we realised that all the other choirs are gold honors choirs and sound way better than us.

took the stage again to rehearse. that was a good thing. get used to the stage and space a bit more. mr yong took over for one run to show gerald how to conduct better and we were all like, “mr yong, you conduct lah!!” poor gerald. mass mutiny. but gerald did good in the end. after all, he's trained us this far, he knows the choir best.

backstage, we're assigned to sing in the second half. so, sat around. concert began at 8.15, apparently pushed back cos of the soccer match against RJ. woah. so anyway, some of them went to watch from the stall seats. me, duan hui and samuel sat around backstage and talked and took photo. got a 'scary' moment when we suddenly heard thumping noises. then thumping noises with singing in it (no, not from the stage). so we began about supernatural stuff and maybe there's an entrance to narnia through one of the lockers in the room. lol! but samuel said that he could hear gunshots in the sounds also. wonder what was going on. suspected that it was NDP rehersal. forgot to go see the padang after the show. anyway, twas nice to talk with sam. been a long time.

second half came around. and then suddenly gerald is panicly running through the backstage areas to rush us to get in line, the next item is us. omg! so fast??! thought there would be a male chorus or something before us, we didn't hear them. so, we rushed there. got onstage and sang.

i think it went well. personally, i was really comfortable there. surprisingly. it was the most relaxed performance i had for a long time. maybe cos i already knew the songs so well, it was a breeze singing them. anyway, really had fun with it. and later on, sam said that someone in the audience he knows commented that we sounded good, better than the chamber choir. yay! so, our efforts paid off. nerve wrecking but it felt so good.

will post photos when they arrive.
